The College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the UAEU has responded to this growing need with the introduction of the AASCB accredited, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program to be offered in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. The program has been designed for research-oriented working professionals and senior level executives. It is aimed at enhancing management knowledge and equipping business leaders with broad research and process management skills to enable them to successfully tackle the interdisciplinary, big picture issues that characterize global business management today. The part-time, academically rigorous program is delivered in a way that enables business leaders to realize those ambitions without compromising their professional endeavors. Admission to the DBA Admission into the UAEU DBA program will be selective in nature. A critical requirement is that admitted students be capable of undertaking doctoral-level activities. A DBA Admissions Committee, consisting of faculty members of the CBE along with the DBA Program Coordinator, will evaluate each applicant to determine their suitability for admission to the course. Minimum Admissions Requirements The following are the minimum requirements for admission to the DBA Program at UAEU. A Master’s Degree from an accredited university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in an area appropriate to the academic area to which application is being made. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, in the Master’s degree earned at an accredited university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. A score of 6.0 or higher on the IELTS Academic exam or equivalent; this score must be less than two years old at the time of application and from our approved Centers (please contact Admissions for validation). A minimum of five years of combined relevant work experience at executive/management level pre- or post-Master’s. The DBA is a four-year, part-time program structured in two stages. Stage one, the taught stage, consists of two years of course work that covers research philosophies, qualitative and quantitative research methods, research in support of business functions, literature review & critique, and human factors and social responsibility. Stage two, the research and dissertation stage, lasts between two and three years. At this stage, the formal teaching aspect of the program ends and students are expected to use the knowledge gained from stage one to undertake a research investigation that represents an original contribution to professional practice that possesses exceptional academic merit. DBA candidates are expected to tackle issues of real importance to their own organizations, delivering high-utility outcomes and enjoying the rewards of seeing their solutions beneficially implemented. During this period, the student's work will be overseen by two supervisors. The program is completed after successful submission and defense of the dissertation.
