PhD at NHH
The PhD programme at NHH is designed for those seeking a specialisation within the fields of economics and business administration for challenging jobs in the private and public sector. Although the majority of our PhD graduates go on to work in academic institutions, an increasing number of graduates take on positions in management, consultancy and larger organisations.
The NHH PhD programme offers specialisations in six different fields:
- Management Science
- Strategy and Management
- Professional and Intercultural Communication
As a young researcher at NHH you will work closely with leading professors within your chosen field, having access to the sophisticated research resources and thriving intellectual community that will help develop your academic interests.
NHHs PhD programme starts every year in August. NHH PhD research scholarships are fully funded for four years on very competitive terms.
PhD research scholarships include a commitment to work 25% as a teaching and/or research assistant for the school while enrolled on the PhD programme. The annual salary for the PhD Research Scholarships is currently 420 800 NOK gross (about € 50 600/US $ 68 800). NHH provides generous research funds for travelling and conference participation, and a bonus system for publications in top international journals.
- "I am never at loss for inspiration or motivation. I find it every day in my colleagues and the work environment, the research resources, working as a research assistant, the freedom to explore my interests and of course Bergen itself and the surrounding nature. As a PhD student you are treated like faculty and you really feel that your contributions are welcomed and appreciated."
