The study covers areas of specialization from biotechnology, bioanalytical chemistry, clinical biochemistry to applied microbiology. Students obtain profound knowledge of theoretical and methodical fundamentals of biochemistry. They master chemistry and biology as a unity and in mutual relationships, being trained for active scientific communication and ability of presenting their results at scientific meetings. They become familiar with information technologies and ready to find, exchange and (statistically) analyse scientific data, and generate valid hypotheses. They gain experience in function, control, installation, modification, and maintenance of scientific instruments complying with ISO standards. They can creatively introduce bioanalytical methods and techniques of qualitative, quantitative, and structural analysis of biological material. Graduates can find jobs in research and management structures of academic institutions, universities, agriculture, pharmaceutics, health and biomedical science.
Applicants for Ph.D. studies should hold a M.Sc. degree in the relevant field of study and show that they are able to undertake the study successfully. The decision is made by Admission Committee nominated by the Dean of the Faculty based on study record transcripts and personal recommendations. Selected candidates may be invited for an interview.
