PDEng in Information and Communication Technology

Eindhoven University of Technology
Campus Full time 2 years January 2017 Netherlands Eindhoven

The ICT program trains designers in specifying, designing, building, testing and evaluating complex multidisciplinary systems in the domain of information and communication technology. [+]

PhD Degrees in Information Systems in Eindhoven in Netherlands. PDEng in Information and Communication Technology TU/e offers two-year (Post-Master’s) PDEng programs. As PDEng trainee, you will have the status of TU/e employee if you are selected for one of these programs. During the traineeship you follow an individual program consisting of courses, assessments and (industrial) projects. In addition, you will carry out a design project, preferably in industry. This project takes 15 months and is spread over two years. The PDEng programs lead to a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng degree). These programs are given under the banner of 4TU.School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute, a joint initiative of the three universities of technology in the Netherlands. ICT track within the Design of Electrical Engineering Systems (DEES) program Within the Design of Electrical Engineering Systems (DEES) program we offer two PDEng tracks: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Healthcare System Design (HSD) The ICT program trains designers in specifying, designing, building, testing and evaluating complex multidisciplinary systems in the domain of information and communication technology. These systems are used in the important societal research themes of the TU/e Department of Electrical Engineering. The design of innovative consumer products and professional systems that communicate with their (global) environment (e.g. wireless and electro-optical communication) is extremely challenging. This leads to many new solutions, for example embedded software, monolithic integrated (opto-) electronic circuits in the field of telecommunication, medical applications and consumer products. The ICT programme educates you in the design of systems that can process, store and convey information in every sense of the word. This programme includes describing and simulating circuit parts and designing and constructing system parts and components. In addition, the interaction between hard- and software is fully addressed. CCTO Certification This program is recognized as a PDEng program by the CCTO, the Dutch certification institute for technological PDEng programs. Admission and application Application is open to university graduates from the Netherlands and other countries. You will at least need a Master of Science degree or equivalent, preferably in the exact sciences. There will be an assessment and selection procedure before you can enter the PDEng program. The PDEng programs use strict selection criteria to ensure the required high quality. Excellent marks, motivation and a design-oriented attitude are vitally important. You should also have an excellent command of the English language. Selection You can apply by sending your letter of application with a complete curriculum vitae and at least two letters of recommendation (in English). Suitable candidates will be invited for an interview with the selection committee of the relevant PDEng program. Each PDEng program has different starting dates, as well as its own specific admission requirements and selection procedure. The exact requirements and selection procedure for each program are listed on the program's website. Admission If you are selected for a PDEng program, you are appointed as a trainee for the duration of the program, up to two years. You are a member of the scientific staff and receive a salary in accordance with government regulations. Because you are a trainee, you do not have to pay a tuition fee. [-]

PDEng in Data Science The PDEng Data Science is a joint initiative of Eindhoven University of Technology, Tilburg University, and the Data Science Centre Eindhoven. Together they founded The Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS). The academy is a thriving data science community, in which postgraduate education, innovation, entrepreneurial activities, lifelong learning, and scientific research are integrated. A major part of the PDEng program Data Science is related to real-life, cross-functional projects with partners in the data science ecosystem. The academy is located in the city of 's Hertogenbosch, in the former convent Mariënburg. Data Science is concerned with the problem of finding patterns and creating value from vast streams of data in the context of a data domain. The main themes of the program are: Collect, explore, analyze, interpret, and present huge data sets Approach data and domain problems from multiple perspective Create value for organizations by designing novel data driven solutions The program combines statistics, computer science, mathematics, and design theory with the business acumen to explore data sets, gather insights, visualize results, and communicate meaningful findings to stakeholders taking into consideration underlying ethical and legal aspects. Creative problem solvers Candidates for the PDEng Data Science are creative problem solvers with excellent technical skills, team players with eagerness to learn and with attitude that shows the responsibility for quality and quantity of knowledge gained.
