Doctoral Programme in Leaders for Technical Industries The Leaders for Technical Industries (LTI) doctoral program within the Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing (EDAM) focus area of the International Partnership MIT Portugal is offered by the University of Minho (School of Engineering, EEUM), University of Lisbon (Técnico Lisboa, IST), and the University of Porto (Faculty of Engineering, FEUP). This program is anchored on multidisciplinary research problems, lying within an Engineering Systems framework. The LTI PhD program considers that product and process innovation and current complex decision-making must also take into account economics, management and social aspects. This perspective is evident in the program’s structure, which groups the courses into clusters such as Design and Technology (three courses), Engineering Systems (four courses), Engineering Management (four courses), and Leadership. As an academic program designed to be in close connection with technically advanced industries, the students must complete an internship for the development of integrated research in an industrial environment.
