The PhD in Management is an intense and rigorous four-year program that equips student with the research skills to become world-leading experts in their chosen field of studies. The program is entirely taught in English. Under the guidance of an internationally renowned faculty, students conduct independent field-based research in strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, and corporate finance. Graduate students find placement primarily in academia and research institutions as well as in large consulting organizations and firms. The first two years of the program are dedicated to coursework, whereas the third and fourth years are dedicated to research and dissertation. To develop a program suited to their interests, students are encouraged to gain research experience by closely working with the LUISS faculty and to spend at least one semester at an internationally renowned research university. Throughout the program, students are exposed to seminars and workshops on publication strategies and approaches to the international job market. How to apply The application for admission must be submitted on line by March, 29 2016. In order for us to consider your application it is necessary that you submit a complete application. Requirements Students applying for the Doctoral Program must have completed a Laurea Magistrale or a Laurea (vecchio ordinamento) or any other equivalent foreign (Master) degree no later than April 30, 2016. Ph.D. students from both of them will follow the same lectures in Pisa for the first year. Students within the curriculum in "Change and Complexity Management" will follow the second year courses in L'Aquila. The curriculum in Innovation, Sustainability and Healthcare deals with the most important management topics which characterize current research activities. Particular emphasis is given to: the management of innovation processes and the international competitiveness of firms, institutions, as well as local, regional and national systems; the management of sustainability in public institutions, private companies and wide territory areas specifically focusing on environment policies, renewable energy sources development, and quality evaluation of food and tourism industry chain; the management of healthcare, meant as the development of models and tools for governance, in order to support the subjects involved in the healthcare system in the process of management and innovation of social welfare assistance and performance evaluation. The curriculum in Change and Complexity Management focuses on two main topics: disaster management and smart communities. These topics are both characterized by a wide complexity because of the high number of actors involved and the relevant effects that a good or wrong management can produce on society. Highly motivated candidates are invited to apply for one of the 35 fully-funded scholarships of the three-year doctoral program, which is articulated in curricula. The 3 curricula currently offered are field-specific, although in many instances they share a common scientific background. The AMCH curriculum aims at providing prospective professionals operating in the field of management of culture and cultural heritage with specific know-hows. Prospective students should preferably have an undergraduate background in the Social Sciences, the Humanities and ICT related to Cultural Heritage. All students are based in the newly restored San Francesco complex, a fully integrated campus in the historical center of the beautiful Tuscan city of Lucca. The campus includes residential facilities, including an on-site canteen, study and living rooms, and outdoor recreational spaces, all serving to add a cultural and social dimension to the professional experience of the doctoral program. Eligible students will also receive a research scholarship which amounts to approximately €13,600/year.
