After the completion of studies is able to pursue an independent scientific or scientific-pedagogical career and, where appropriate, be a head of a research team. Her/his scientific competencies include the ability to prepare professional scientific texts for publication, present their results at seminars and conferences. The graduate gains a very high quality methodological training in both the theoretical level and in practical research, taking away the ability to use advanced quantitative and qualitative research methods. The graduate also acquires practice necessary for the educational activities of tertiary education in the field. She/he also commands the foreign languages necessary for research in the field. Knowledge of languages is also a means of making international contacts and activities at foreign scientific institutions. Description of the entrance examination and evaluation criteria Doctoral degree programme is guided by the Rules for the organization of study at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University and higher legal standards of Charles University. Entrance exam: The entrance examination takes into account: • dissertation proposal • the applicant’s scope based on the submitted list of academic literature • previous publications Crucial criteria in the admission of the applicant are as follows: • Dissertation project quality: the concept, along with the theoretical and methodological outcomes, is expected to be defended by the applicant during the entrance examination. • The applicant’s scope based on the submitted list of academic literature will be taken into consideration. • Another valued aspect will be the fact whether the applicant has received a written approval by a member of the IPS FSS CU academic staff at for his/her project of dissertation thesis.
