PhD

PhD, or Doctor of Philosophy, refers to the postgraduate degrees that are awarded to candidates after completing the university program. There are a variety of disciplines in which candidates can earn a PhD and there are programs around the world that offer top-notch education facilitated by faculty that are experts in their field. PhD programs prepare candidates for careers in academia, research, government, or industry.


Requirements in PhD programs vary depending on the country, the university, and the program. Most PhD programs require a master’s degree, but some will accept candidates with only a bachelor’s. Most programs take a minimum of 3 or 4 years to complete and require a combination of coursework and research, and others will expect candidates to teach undergraduate courses as well as write publications. Economics Ph.D. is a four year program, totally taught in English, aimed at training international economists capable of contributing to the advancement of knowledge and expanding the frontiers of research in the economic disciplines. These economists are prepared for academic or professional careers in international institutions, central banks and with economic and/or regulatory policy makers, or in consulting firms and financial institutions. The program is designed to give students the ability to understand and elaborate a broad spectrum of economic problems and to provide up to date analytical, empirical and quantitative techniques. Students acquire the necessary skills to undertake both academic and professional careers, in universities, international research institutions, public authorities, central banks, consulting and financial institutions. During the program students focus on writing their doctoral dissertation and present their work in internal seminars, while following seminars or “reading groups” at LUISS or at EIEF (Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance). The Ph.D. dissertation is expected to consist in an original and significant contribution to the chosen field of specialization. Academic year 2016/2017 For the academic year 2016/2017, five positions are available. All positions are tuition free. The five positions come with a scholarship (around 13.500 € per year). Mantener un promedio mínimo de 8.0 y no reprobar dos cursos, o uno en dos ocasiones, durante el programa de formación académica. Cumplir con los avances de su disertación y el portafolio de evidencias del avance en el logro de competencias, de acuerdo con lo programado y con el aval de su Comité de Grado. Requisitos de obtención del grado Cumplir con el mínimo de créditos especificados por la reglamentación vigente y el programa de estudios avalado por el Comité de Grado. Cumplir con el Artículo 83 del Capítulo XV del Reglamento del Posgrado. Desarrollo y defensa oral de un trabajo de investigación realizado como disertación doctoral. Haber publicado o tener aceptado para publicación al menos un artículo científico y otro enviado a revistas avaladas por el CONACYT, producto de sus actividades en el programa. El plazo máximo para presentación del examen de grado será de 2.5 años a partir de la fecha en que se concluya con el programa académico correspondiente. A petición razonada del tutor al Coordinador Académico, se podrá ampliar dicho plazo hasta por un año más. En caso de que un candidato exceda el tiempo máximo estipulado para presentar el examen, deberá presentar exámenes de al menos dos materias disciplinares que ya haya cursado y que el Comité de Grado defina, o bien, cursar nuevamente las materias correspondientes, antes de autorizarse su examen de grado. Facilities include purpose-built recording studios, post-production rooms, rehearsal spaces, workstations and seminar rooms. There is a professionally designed 5.1 recording and compositional space and a spatial audio studio. In addition, there is a multi-loudspeaker sound diffusion system for the performance of sonic art and live electronics. Our location on the Chatham Historic Dockyard provides interesting and unique spaces for concerts, performances and sound installations, with further venues on the other parts of the campus and in the surrounding area. Our students explore both the creative and technical aspects of music and its related technologies and also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with practitioners from other arts subjects. The Kent School of Architecture (KSA) offers a two-year full-time ‘professional’ Master of Architecture (MArch) which gives exemption from ARB/RIBA Part 2 on completion. The School also offers a research degree programme (PhD) and taught Master’s programmes in Architecture and Urban Design, Architectural Visualisation, Architectural Conservation, and Architecture and Sustainable Environment. These programmes also benefit from expertise in urban studies, animation and art within other schools at Kent.
