Top Part time Doctorate Programs in Spatial Sciences in Europe. Students graduating in this programme will possess extensive knowledge of mathematics and theoretical physics or of astronomy and astrophysics, respectively, which they further expand in areas related to their Ph.D. thesis. The spectrum of these specializations is very broad. The graduates thus find research jobs at universities, institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and other scientific institutions both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The universality of their education and their mastery of computer techniques endow them with a considerable flexibility when solving particular problems so they realize themselves also in ‘practically’ oriented jobs requiring logical thinking and analysis of complex tasks. Before starting the doctoral study in the field Geometry and topology, global analysis and general structures, a student chooses his concrete directon. This means that he studies either topology or geometry. If the choice is topology, then he studies either general topology or algebraic topology. If the choice is geometry, then he studies differential geometry which is very often completed with the study of global analysis and some parts of algebraic topology. After finishing his study, the student is prepared for a reseach in the field of his interest, and knows also various possibilities of applications. He has necessary knowledge and research experience, is familiar with the relevant literature, and has established contacts with further mathematicians working in his field, including foreign mathematicians.
