ST offers a two-year post-Master technological PDEng program for MSc graduates with a degree in the field of Computer Science or a related field such as (but not limited to) Business Information Systems, Embedded Systems, Data Science or Information Security. Like a PhD candidate, you will have the status of TU/e employee after being selected for this program. The Software Technology program is designed to prepare you for an industrial career as a technological designer, and later on as a software or system architect. It starts with 14 months of advanced training and education, including 4 small, industry driven training projects, followed by a major design project of 10 months in a company. The technological PDEng programs lead to a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) degree. These programs are given under the banner of 4TU.School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute, a joint initiative of the four universities of technology in the Netherlands. The ST program is part of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Eindhoven University of Technology. CCTO Certification This program is recognized as a PDEng program by the CCTO, the Dutch certification institute for technological designer programs. PDEng in Information and Communication Technology TU/e offers two-year (Post-Master’s) PDEng programs. As PDEng trainee, you will have the status of TU/e employee if you are selected for one of these programs. During the traineeship you follow an individual program consisting of courses, assessments and (industrial) projects. In addition, you will carry out a design project, preferably in industry. This project takes 15 months and is spread over two years. The PDEng programs lead to a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng degree). ICT track within the Design of Electrical Engineering Systems (DEES) program Within the Design of Electrical Engineering Systems (DEES) program we offer two PDEng tracks: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Healthcare System Design (HSD) The ICT program trains designers in specifying, designing, building, testing and evaluating complex multidisciplinary systems in the domain of information and communication technology. These systems are used in the important societal research themes of the TU/e Department of Electrical Engineering. The design of innovative consumer products and professional systems that communicate with their (global) environment (e.g. wireless and electro-optical communication) is extremely challenging. The goal of the program is to train you to become a professional technological designer in industry. The program consists of a course program and three projects in industry (two smaller ones, and one year project). The program leads to a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng degree). Admission and enrolment The program is open to graduates with a university MSc degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and similar disciplines, with a high grade for their MSc research project. The courses followed should definitely contain a number of physics subjects, especially those with a clear link to engineering (like optics, thermodynamics and thermal modelling, electrical theory, mechanics, vacuum technology etc.). Not all physic's subjects need to have been covered, but a clear flavor of physics must have been a part of the studies of the candidate. Experimental experience gained in laboratory work is important. The candidate must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. Trainees in the program are employed by the university (approx. gross monthly pay of 1700 €; during two years). There is no university fee. The program is financed by the Dutch Government and the industrial partners.
