The significance of doctoral program within the Bologna concept of studies was defined in the so-called “2003-Berlin Communiqué”. It was later confirmed in the “Bergen Communiqué” of May 2005, which definitely paved the path for the development of doctoral programs within the EU system of higher education (EHEA). In almost all EUA documents, doctoral studies have been defined as one of priorities for EU universities. The need for a qualitatively new and well structured doctoral program and a transparent system of monitoring students’ work has been defined as one of the main goals of the further development and integration of EU higher education area (EHEA) and EU research area (ERA). Such a program is conceived to be the first stage in young academics’ career.
