Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
The program is a full research program in which students are assessed based on the thesis produced at the end of their study period. The program aims to produce graduates who are capable of becoming scholarly researchers and making the original contribution to knowledge in their specific field of study.
As part of our commitment in becoming a center of excellence for business and management education, students may choose to specialize in any of the various business fields such as Management, Accounting, Banking, Finance, Insurance, Islamic Banking and Finance, Marketing, Technology Management, Operations Management, Entrepreneurship, and Human Resource Management.
The program is offered on a full-time and a part-time basis. However, international students can only opt for the full-time mode. Full-time students are required to complete their study between 4 and 10 semesters, while part-time students may complete between 6 and 14 semesters.
Admission to this program can be granted based on the criteria specified below:
1.A master’s degree from Universiti Utara Malaysia or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by the University Senate; OR
2.Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the University Senate; AND
3.Fulfills English Language Requirement as set by the University Senate; AND
4.Applicants are expected to have sufficient research skills and knowledge deemed appropriate by the Academic Committee. Students without these criteria are required to enroll and pass the following two (2)courses:
a.SZRZ6014 Research Methodology
b.SCLE6014 Academic Writing
