Introduction
The Doctorate in Biological Sciences is a postgraduate program recognized by its HIGH QUALITY in the level of Consolidation granted by CONACYT in the National Program of Postgraduate Quality (PNPC). The program offers two modalities: the Direct from Degree with a duration of 48 months (4 years) and the Traditional from Masters of 36 months (3 years). The postgraduate is oriented to the investigation, reason why its graduates achieve a formation in investigation with the capacities to realize original and innovative research and to be considered like valuable individuals by its employers. Graduates are distinguished by their social commitment, responsible for their learning, social needs, contributing to the development of the country, persevering to achieve the goals proposed, and tolerance for when there are discrepancies. The Doctorate focuses on solving needs in the following lines of research: Toxicology and Environmental Bioengineering Biotechnology and Plant and Animal Biochemistry Bioremediation Ecology and Biodiversity Proteins in the Immune Response in Plasticity and Neural Discharge GOALS To train researchers with a solid background in various fields of biological sciences, able to generate and apply knowledge, identify problems at the national level and propose solutions in their areas of work, as well as to participate in the training of human resources at the level of postgraduate and in the development of interdisciplinary research projects. Egress's profile Knowledge. The graduate must have solid knowledge of the most recent foundations and advances in the area of ​​Biological Sciences. Abilities. The graduate will have the ability to: To select and design models that will guide the experimental development in the area of ​​biological sciences, the generation of basic knowledge and the solution of problems related to human or veterinary health, agriculture, industry and the environment local, regional or national level. Able to generate and apply the appropriate instrumental and methodological techniques to obtain the required information and will have the ability to modify these techniques, if necessary, as well as to interpret the generated results and obtain conclusions from them. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, the results of their research in academic and scientific environments as well as the interaction with people from other areas of knowledge. Tolerance for when there is a discrepancy of ideas. Predoctoral examination Based on the General Teaching Regulations of the UAA (Article 159-A), a pre-doctoral examination is included as a requirement for permanence in the program. The predoctoral examination aims to verify that the student has the knowledge and skills required to successfully complete his thesis project and opt for the degree of Doctor of Science. The characteristics of the predoctoral examination are: Students with a Bachelor's degree must complete the pre-doctoral examination during the fourth, fifth, or sixth semester of the program. The choice of date will be made by the student himself in agreement with his thesis adviser. Students who have entered the program with the masters degree must present the predoctoral examination in the first two semesters of their incorporation to the same. The presentation of this examination will be done before a jury composed of five synods designated by the Dean of the Center of Basic Sciences. The decisions made by this jury will be by majority vote. The requirements for joining the jury are the same as those set for the Synod of the degree exam. The thesis adviser will be part of this jury. The pre-doctoral examination jury will evaluate the following aspects of the student: Academic performance in the postgraduate and acquired knowledge. Presentation and defense of the advances of his thesis project. The possible results of the predoctoral examination are: Accredited, Accredited with Recommendations or Not Accredited.
