The program of Doctorate in Civil Engineering Is organized by the ETS Of Engineers of Roads, Channels and Ports of the University of Coruña and in it participate the departments of Mathematical Methods and of Representation and Technology of the Construction. It replaces the program of the same name governed by RD 1393/2007, which was distinguished with the mention of excellence by the General Secretariat of Universities in its resolution of October 6, 2011. The ETSICCP of the UDC is the only center of the university system of the Autonomous Community of Galicia in which master studies are taught in the field of Civil Engineering. The current program of doctorate in Civil Engineering is also unique in its scope in the university system of the autonomous community of Galicia.
Why study the degree
Civil Engineering is one of the most important sectors of our economy in which multinationals with capital and leading cadres from our country are among the most competitive, profitable and technologically and technologically advanced companies in the world. This privileged position is due both to the training traditionally imparted in the great Engineering Schools and to the permanent commitment of the Engineers to research, development and innovation at the highest level. As is well known, the great works of Civil Engineering are extremely complex and have very important budgets, so investment in research in this area has a very high return in terms of profitability and ability to tackle more ambitious challenges. Research, development and innovation at the highest level in Civil Engineering are, therefore, as priority lines of action in the present moment.

Specific Training Complements
In case the doctor does not have the complete previous training required in the program, his / her admission to the program may be conditioned to the surpassing of specific training complements, which may be subjects or modules of master and degree. The complements assigned to the same doctorate may not exceed 15 ECTS credits and may be made prior or simultaneous to the tuition in academic tuition in the program.
In case of simultaneous realization the students will have to register for these complements at the moment of formalizing the tuition of academic tutelage in the program, which must be surpassed in the maximum term of three consecutive quarters. Failure to do so will result in student disqualification from the program.
Professional and academic outputs
Since 2002 they have carried out their doctoral thesis in the doctoral programs that it replaces near 50 students, among which are counted several national prizes of investigation. Among the graduated students are recognized researchers currently working in Spanish and foreign universities and also engineers who carry out their professional activity in positions of great responsibility.
The recommended admission profile is that of a student who is in possession of a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering, or an equivalent degree in the European Higher Education Area. Also considered as a recommended admission profile is that of a student in possession of the degree in Civil Engineering, which is in a position to access the doctoral program, in accordance with current legislation. In all cases the student must show interest in research in the field of civil engineering, in any of the areas that are his or her own.
