Doctoral studies in the ICCT program educate students to become highly qualified specialists in electronics, information technology, and computer science. Students become highly qualified specialists in process control technology for research and development at universities, for further research institutions, and for work in private companies. Graduates take on leading positions at various organizations in this field. Students specializing in Electronics learn about radio communication, satellite navigation, and radar systems, sensor electronics, and signal and image processing. In the field of Computer Science and Informatics, students learn about agent-based architectures of simulation models, prototyping and verification of components of simulation models using colored Petri nets, decision-making using artificial intelligence methods and multi-criterion analysis, modeling and design of multidimensional database systems, and road traffic flow optimization. In the Process Control branch of this postgraduate degree program, students study complex dynamic systems control and optimization, soft computing and artificial intelligence methods, and applied process control, robotics, and mechatronics.
Full-time regular doctoral study in these programs takes four years. In the first two years, students learn three specialized subjects chosen from 20 offered ones in the doctoral program, and must also pass an English language examination. In their third year, students take state doctoral examinations. Students work on their doctoral thesis during the entirety of their study period and they present and defend their dissertation at the end of their studies.
