Entrance examination: single round – oral interview

Discussion of a submitted proposal for Ph.D. dissertation (with the discussion focusing on the topic and methodology of the prospective Ph.D. dissertation and testing the applicant’s research skills): 0–30 points
Assessment of the applicant’s academic and research history in the field related to the doctoral program and his/her subject-related knowledge: 0–30 points
Topics of prospective doctoral dissertations should be related to the primary academic and research areas of the Department of Psychology, which is currently involved in the research program entitled Progres Q15: Life course, lifestyle and quality of life from the perspective of individual adaptation and the relationship of actors and institutions; the program explores human lifespan development and its stages (childhood, adulthood, old age), personal well-being and mental resilience in the diverse contexts of human life, protective and risk factors of development from childhood to adulthood (including delinquency), various aspects of the quality of life in health and illness, in work processes and organizational environments, in self-realization processes and in the changing world of communication media, and other issues, including optimal aging. Projects may be related to psychological diagnostics and intervention, as the program is expected to result in findings of basic research that can contribute to the development of the general theory of lifespan development, as well as applied results and creating a design for preventative and interventional procedures for enhanced the quality of life at the main developmental stages and in key life situations. Research should focus on selected professional groups – e.g. teachers, doctors, supportive professions, etc. The primary objectives of projects are expected to revolve around successful adaptation and effective functioning in a changing world and multicultural societies. The analysis may include external circumstances (social and situational factors) and actors themselves (personality factors).
Ph.D. topics must be consulted beforehand with the Chair of the Subject Area Board. The Chair of the Subject Area Board (Programme Director) is a doc. PhDr. Ilona Gillernová, CSc. (ilona.gillernova@ff.cuni.cz).
An applicant can only be admitted if they are awarded a minimum of 30 points in the entrance examination and, at the same time, score enough points to place among the expected number of students admitted to the respective program of study; admissions will be granted to all applicants who score the same number of points as the applicant who comes in the last place in the ranking of admissions. Please note that different expected numbers of admissions apply to full-time and combined forms of study. Applicants cannot be admitted without submitting evidence of their prior education no later than on the enrolment day.

Admission to Doctoral studies is conditioned by successful completion of a Master's study program.

Information about graduate employment
Graduates of the doctoral study program in Social Psychology and Psychology of Work are experts in the latest and scientifically supported procedures with a critical view of their content and especially their methodological contexts. They have demonstrated a profound knowledge of both the field and the methodology of their major topic of interest, which was the topic of their dissertation project. They have a grounding in the current issues of psychology as well as the ability to identify methods of investigation and to use research results for practical applications. Using the acquired knowledge and research experience, they are prepared for independent creative work in basic and applied research requiring the most demanding qualifications that contribute to the development of a given area of psychology.
