Conditions of Entry
a) Holders of master's degree or equivalent in architecture or related fields b) Bachelor's degree holders, holders of a relevant academic or scientific curriculum recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this EC by C. C .from SCAIT -ULHT and the DC-FCATI ULP; c) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this EC by DC and the DC SCAIT the FCATI.
It is intended to capture a student profile: 1) interested in research on the integration of architecture in society, considering the areas that interact with it, particularly from the social point of view, cultural, technical and economic; 2) open to interdisciplinary knowledge; 3) committed to promote, in academic and or professional contexts, technological, social or cultural progress.
Applicants will be subject to a rigorous selection process.
The PhD in Architecture Lusophone University of Porto has as main objective the training of researchers and teachers in the area of ​​Architecture. This proposal seeks to meet the need for an innovative and creative training in the country and in the Lusophone space in their area of ​​expertise, architecture.
The central object of the PhD in Architecture is to research the integration of architecture in society, considering the areas that interact with it, particularly from the social point of view, cultural, technical and economic.
In this sense the thesis to be made by enrolled in the doctorate may be theoretical or theoretical nature / practice, particularly aiming up in architectural design.
It is further objective of this doctoral strengthening research capacity and training of the Department of Architecture SCAIT - School of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technology ULHT and FCATI - Faculty of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technology of the ULP .
Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
The PhD in Architecture, University of Porto Lusophone aims to provide the following skills: - Ability to develop a research project in the field of architecture; - Analysis and integration of results and data on the state of the art for the object area and in particular through a unique and innovative architectural design; - Develop an architectural research program in theoretical and / or practical project that integrates the knowledge acquired during the course component of the course; - Report critically with their academic peers; - Transmitting advanced and innovative knowledge, including targeted research projects in the field of architecture; - Understanding and critical evaluation of the processes of architectural design and architectural theory in the contemporary context.
Equipment and Facilities
The facilities are the guarantee of the sense of identity and of course the essential implement curriculum. In this sense, the general organization and spatial articulation, the space should be the place of intersection of didactic and pedagogical experiments, expressed in the vertical and horizontal coordination of scientific areas of the curriculum. This unique space will be available in both institutions in time basis allowing extended work in facilities outside of school hours. To point out the existence of spaces "atelier", where students can develop their work as well as being accompanied by teachers. Although these spaces to focus much of the equipment available to architecture students, there are other areas / equipment in working places cycle, essential to develop their activities such as libraries, computer labs, copy shops, book stores and work centers technology.
