Justification and Purpose
Unlike some doctoral programmes that seek mostly to prepare students for university education and research, our Doctoral Programme in Administrative Sciences offers a modern approach to the study of policy decision-making processes and management in public services in areas such as health, welfare, environment, and education. This Programme in Administrative Sciences envisons to rationalise and enhance in-depth scientific knowledge on policy decision processes and their management in public institutions and non-profit organisations and in diverse areas such as those mentioned above. Candidates should hold a Master Degree Programme or an appropriate scientific and professional curriculum in order to apply.
The Doctoral Programme in Administrative Sciences prepares students to undergo independent scientific work, thereby contributing to the progress of knowledge in the field of Administrative Sciences, which includes the areas of public management, public policies, political and administrative organisation, administration, applied public management and budget management.
The programme coursework and thesis supervision is ensured by recognised faculty members, holders of PhD degrees awarded by prestigious national and international institutions. These scholars integrate the Research Centre in Political Science (CICP), a R&D unit at EEG/UM ranked as "Excellent" by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), and whose research includes individual and collective projects, part of which financed by the same entity.
Would you like to enhance your technical, human and professional career by means of a third cycle of studies in the field of Administrative Sciences? This Programme will provide you with an excellent training, strongly based upon the best national and international practices and anchored in scientific rigour and practical experience of a highly qualified faculty.
