PhD in Civil Engineering

General

Program Description

Dept. of Civil Engineering offers degrees in the following disciplines: mechanics and structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, water resource engineering, materials engineering, transportation engineering, geo-information engineering and information technology. The department provides teaching and research facilities, including Computer Laboratory and Experimental Center of Civil Engineering, for high-quality education and research. The Experimental Center of Civil Engineering, with total space of 6,500 square meters, is equipped with the most advanced instruments, such as high-capacity actuators, reaction walls, strong floor, loading frames, bi-axial shake table, large-scale geotechnical centrifuge, large-scale soil pit, atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel, and is the most important experimental unit for civil engineering research in Taiwan.

National Central University was originally founded in Nanjing, China in 1915. NCU had later developed into a renowned academic institution with comprehensive programs and outstanding faculty, enjoying a high reputation equal to that of Peking University. In 1962, the Graduate Institute of Geophysics was founded in Miaoli, Taiwan as the re-establishment of the University. The campus was relocated to Zhongli in 1968, and today it has become a home to more than thirteen thousand students and teachers. Read less
