Characteristics of the Studies
The doctoral studies are conceived as a preparatory program for scholars and researchers whose creative endeavors contribute to the development of theory and research in the field of education sciences. The program aims preferably to enhance their relevant expertise, to disseminate relevant research findings and trends in the field of education and to cultivate methodological competences of doctoral students. The general focus of the study program offers students the chance to get acquainted more deeply with the pedagogical disciplines. The focal point of the doctoral study is a doctoral dissertation/thesis, defined as an original scholarly work whose findings enrich the respective field of study within the broader context of developing the discipline. Consultations Due to the nature and content of the study, the applicant may consult the theme, the structure of the project and possibilities for its processing with potential supervisors of doctoral studies.

Program without specialization.
Description of verification and evaluation criteria
Research project proposal of up to 10 pages must be sent together with the application to the Department of Science, Faculty of Education, Charles University and should correspond with thematic areas chosen by supervisors. The research project shall include Characteristics of the research topic/area and its relevance, a literature review on the topic, and/or its theoretical background, Formulation of a research problem and specific research questions, Description of the methodology chosen to answer the research questions, Plan for realisation of the research project and References (all works cited in the text). The entrance examination is an oral presentation of the applicant in front of the entrance committee.
Evaluation Criteria: The applicant can get a maximum of ten points, the number of points for the admission to study is getting at least seven points.
Conditions for admission
Admission to Doctoral studies is conditioned by successful completion of a Master's study program.

Graduates of the doctoral program "Education" are experts in the area of education who cultivates the ability to apply theoretical equipment in a creative way during the course of study. They are knowledgeable, methodologically and linguistically equipped for an individual and a team scientific work in education and related social sciences. They can be employed in particular as a scientist, university educator, teacher at higher professional schools, as an expert or manager in separate educational provisions and as a conceptual or analytical expert in public administration institutions. The acquired competencies allow them to work professionally in a wide range of professions where he/she uses profound professional and methodological knowledge, critical thinking and professional insight.
