The purpose of the Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering is to develop the competencies of the postgraduate student in a chosen field of specialization on an advanced level. It requires a student to undertake research at the most advanced academic levels, which will be evident in the acceptance of a thesis. This qualification enables the student to make a direct and original academic contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the area of specialization.
Industrial Engineering Technology
Industrial Engineers are involved in planning for the processes of storage, movement of materials, and layout of factories. To ensure a coordinated workflow and optimal productivity, they organize and manage the relationship between other planners, plan operators, and the plant.
Industrial Engineers design and implement systems within organizations to maximize production. They work in conjunction with other engineers to put the theory of mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineering into practice.

An approved Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a similar field. Provision is made for alternate forms of access to the qualification based on the rules and regulations of the University.
