Program Description

The doctoral program on specialty "Mathematical and Computer Modeling" is created for further independent research and defense of a doctoral dissertation at the university. Within the frameworks of the course, Ph.D. students study classical and modern approaches of mathematics such as methods of functional analysis, mathematical models of physical processes, a more advanced course of differential equations, in particular, derived equations, etc. In addition, courses on high-productive calculations and computer modeling are given. The Thesis Board for the defense of doctoral dissertations on specialty "Mathematical and Computer Modeling" is functioning at our university.

Aims and Objectives

There is a training of competent specialists in the field of mathematical and computer modeling. In this direction, the faculty aims at upgrading the quality of the educational process by means of implementing modern methods and training techniques, updating and creating new mathematical courses that meet the requirements of the growing economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Theoretical and practical minimum of Ph.D. training

Specialists that have a Master's degree or academic degree of Candidate of Sciences are allowed to complete the program. An applicant should be prepared for training in the doctoral program and for research activities in the field of mathematical and computer modeling. An applicant should have knowledge of contemporary research methods, including the use of specialized computer programs for carrying out various calculations. In addition, an applicant should possess the following scientific and methodological skills and abilities:

  • to formulate a problem, aim, and objectives of the research;
  • to choose research methods that are adequate to the objectives;
  • to conduct informational, analytical, and bibliographic work by means of using contemporary technologies;
  • to analyze collected information and to explain the results received;
  • to present the results of the work done in the form of reports and scientific articles that meet contemporary requirements.
