A doctorate in philosophy from the specific area of Contemporary Thought is unique in the country and lies in the nuclear target of practical philosophy as knowledge assets, linked to this real world (that critically deconstructed in order to better understand and track). Regarding the enforceability of the objectives, this course is designed, through its research seminar, in practical environment to test the literature in this discipline, the heuristic of texts and the conceptual formulation of research topics. This course, despite the recent implementation, benefits from previous work done on that area of philosophy, when implemented in R&D Unit in Science, Technology and Society. Under the coordination of Dr. Santos Neves, published there the book "Introduction to Contemporary Thought ', financed by FCT, which has the support of a hundred authors of science quite distant, but all of which coincide in the matrix of the applied current thinking. In the same scope, the course has edited several issues of the journal Metacritic, which is now proposed to recover, in partnership with ECAT.
