What’s more, it is becoming clear that the next few decades will be the golden age for the “theory of life”, which is expected to undergo the same accelerating growth experienced by other physics disciplines in the past century. Key Features The international Master's/PhD Molecular Biology Program is member of the Göttingen Graduate School for Neurosciences, Biophysics, and Molecular Biosciences (GGNB), funded by the German Excellence Initiative. It is offered by the Göttingen Center for Molecular Biosciences (GZMB) at the University of Göttingen, and is conducted jointly by the participating university departments and research groups, the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine, and the German Primate Center (DPZ). The intensive, research-oriented education qualifies the students for professional work in the fields of molecular and cellular biosciences. The Molecular Biology Program is also recognized and funded as an International Max Planck Research School. The program is open to students from Germany and from abroad, who hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) in the biosciences, chemistry, medicine, or related fields. All courses are held in English. Scholarships are available. The academic year starts in mid-October, preceded by three weeks of orientation. Applications are welcome until January 15th of the year of enrollment. Admission is only possible to the first segment of the program, not directly to the PhD program.
