Doctoral studies in chemistry and chemical engineering are aimed at advanced training in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering and providing future doctors wit
The Doctoral Program in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering presented comes from the rigorous adaptation of the Chemical Doctorate and Chemical Engineering Program, Mention of Quality of the MEC since 2004 (MCD 2004/00261) which also obtained the Mention Toward Excellence in the year 2011 (MEE2011-0426).
The social context in which the program is developed is that of a community with a scarce industrial fabric, which includes 224 companies within the chemical industry concept, 97 in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 127 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, according to the directory of companies.
These companies range from the manufacture of paints and varnishes to dietetic products, being the largest group dedicated to the "manufacture of soaps, detergents and other cleaning and polishing articles." Manufacture of perfumes and beauty and hygiene products....
This PhD program study deals with the education and development of highly qualified persons interested in many branches of chemical engineering. Students solve practical
The aim of the Doctoral studies at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering is to lead students to independent research and to provide them the appropriate qualifications. Every study programme is organized in a full-time (internal) or a part-time (external) mode of study.
Standard length of a full-time study course is four years. The maximum length of (a part-time) study course is seven years. Graduates are awarded a PhD title (a Doctorate, „doktor“ in Czech).
Doctoral studies are presumed for university graduates who have achieved a level of study corresponding to MSc. For applying you need a nostrification of your degree.
In order to be able to assess the student´s previous study results, the Faculty requires a copy of the diploma testifying to previously attained education and a list of courses passed during their university studies with corresponding marks to be attached to the application form. Based on these materials, the Faculty verifies whether the applicant qualifies for the pertinent branch of the Doctoral Degree Program....

PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering
Chemical & Biological Engineering is a discipline that integrates chemistry and biology at the molecular level and uses this broad foundation along with engineering fundamentals to study the synthesis of new processes and products. Our graduate program in Chemical and Biological Engineering is an interdisciplinary program that combines chemical engineering fundamentals and systems biology to meet the research challenges of the future. The research areas of interest are:
Process Dynamics, Control, and Optimization
Synthesis of Nanostructured Materials
Fuel Cells and Sustainable Development
Computational Fluid Dynamics
Polymer Science and Engineering
Interaction Networks and Pathways
Modeling of metal-organic frameworks for energy applications
Molecular simulations of crystalline nanoporous membranes for gas separations
Computational studies of adsorption and diffusion in porous materials
Supercritical fluids and ionic liquids

This course requires a 2:1 or international equivalent and/or a master's degree at merit level or above in a relevant subject, and an IELTS level 6.0 (5.5 in each element). It is usually completed over a period of around three years.
There are extensive laboratories with equipment from bench to pilot-plant scale. We are one of the few departments in the UK with access to mass spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy and a ‘virtual-reality’ suite where you can construct and optimize your own complete processing plant.
Postgraduate students also have access to research facilities including a range of equipment, for example:
Total organic carbon
Strong acid digestion of rocks
Research test rigs – multiphase flow
Drop tube furnace
Flow in pipe rig
