The Doctoral Program in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering presented comes from the rigorous adaptation of the Chemical Doctorate and Chemical Engineering Program, Mention of Quality of the MEC since 2004 (MCD 2004/00261) which also obtained the Mention Toward Excellence in the year 2011 (MEE2011-0426).
The social context in which the program is developed is that of a community with a scarce industrial fabric, which includes 224 companies within the chemical industry concept, 97 in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 127 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, according to the directory of companies.

Standard length of a full-time study course is four years. The maximum length of (a part-time) study course is seven years. Graduates are awarded a PhD title (a Doctorate, „doktor“ in Czech).

There are extensive laboratories with equipment from bench to pilot-plant scale. We are one of the few departments in the UK with access to mass spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy and a ‘virtual-reality’ suite where you can construct and optimize your own complete processing plant.
