Starting the international inter-university interdisciplinary postgraduate (doctoral) study ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATIVENESS was stimulated by the need for creation of competitive knowledge necessary for strengthening the proactive and innovative capacity of individuals and society in facing changes and managing changes.

A study is the result of the TEMPUS Joint European Project International Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CD_JEP-41014-2006), which was realized by Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek, Croatia; University of Turku, Finland; University of Maribor, Slovenia; University of Klagenfurt, Austria and Durham University, United Kingdom in the 2007-2009 period. Building educational capacity at all levels of education for training for initiative and entrepreneurship requires creating a critical mass of educators from that interdisciplinary area, that is, creating teams of educators in different disciplines who can implement entrepreneurship education programs at different educational levels, from primary to tertiary.... Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rijeka presently implements the Postgraduate Doctoral Study in the area of Technical Sciences, in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture and Fundamental Technical Sciences. Studies in the field of Computer Science have been provided at the Faculty of Engineering since 2008 for undergraduate level, and since 2011 for graduate level. In addition to Computer Science teaching activities at the undergraduate and graduate levels, which are carried out in accordance with the Bologna Declaration, the Department of Computer Science is also involved in research projects approved by the National Science Foundation, EU COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology), University Support Programmes, and the Croatian Agency for SMEs, Innovation and Investments (HAMAG BICRO). The proposed study programme is based on the tradition of scientific postgraduate studies at the Faculty (since 1971), as well as on the teaching and research know-how in the field of Computer Science, and, as such, complements the educational and scientific potential within all areas encompassed in the Faculty’s activity scope.... Postgraduate university (doctoral) study programmes accept applicants with the following degrees: Graduate Engineer, Master of Engineering, or Master of Engineering Sciences (in the subject of Electrical Engineering). The programme is also open to applicants with a degree in related fields, in which case they might need to pass exams in supplemental courses. Applicants must have completed a university graduate study programme with 300 ECTS credits including the undergraduate part of the programme, or a university undergraduate study programme of at least 4 years. Applicants who have earned a degree from a foreign educational institution are required to attach a decision from a competent authority on the recognition of the foreign degree.
