Doctoral program in Economics welcomes all qualified applicants with Master´s degrees who have a strong interest in economic theory, econometric modelling, and applied economics. Graduates will be equipped with advanced knowledge of the history of economics, micro- and macroeconomics, international economics, and economic policy, and also important research skills for becoming a succesful researcher.

The study program is based on a systemic, integrated concept of managing industrial activities and processes in market economy conditions. As a balanced interconnection of knowledge of industrial economics and management, advanced quality management and intelligent control systems with technical and technological knowledge, the study program is oriented mainly to production systems of the metallurgical, chemical and engineering industries.

Systems Engineering and Informatics (SEI) postgraduate study program follows up several master’s study programs at VŠB – TU Ostrava, Faculty of Economics, especially Information and knowledge management. This study program is scheduled for 4 years and graduates are awarded the Ph.D. degree. The program can be studied in several mutations – full-time and part-time, in Czech and in English.

The doctoral study program of Electrical Engineering Science is focused on the scientific research and independent creative activity in various sub-areas of the electrical engineering, including industrial electronics, automotive electronics, power electronics, electrical machines and apparatus, electric drives. Therefore, the study is focused on the deepening of the theoretical basis of electrotechnical branches and on the detailed introduction to modern knowledge in a narrower focus, on which the topic of the doctoral dissertation is followed. The doctoral study enables PhD students to build on the master's degree programs offered at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VŠB-TUO.

The doctoral study in the Mining and Mining Geomechanics program is designed for graduates of the master’s degree program in Mining of Mineral Resources.

The PhD study branch is open to graduates of technological fields of processing of mineral resources, waste recycling and water technology. Processing is a scientific discipline that is traditionally related to research and development of technologies to do with mineral resources and water that do not have a useful value as mined, thus being unusable.

Doctoral study program Transport Systems educates graduates with a deep theoretical knowledge of technical and natural sciences, which are supplemented by specific practical skills received by solving real problems based on the current needs of rail, road and air transport systems.

The aim of the Doctoral course of study is to prepare highly qualified experts who are able to develop their branch of study by searching for new, original solutions, methods, and procedures, as well as to apply the most demanding generally known methods. You will become an expert in one of four optional subjects: Optical Diagnostics, Magnetic Properties of Materials, Applied Nuclear Physics, or Progressive Technologies of Material Disintegration. So do not forget to submit all required documents in time.

Students who successfully completed their (follow-up) master´s studies in the same field of study or a related one will be admitted to PhD studies. Applicants who have duly submitted their application and have attached all the required documents will be subjected to individiual assessment of the submitted documentation (results of previous studies, CV, a list of published and unpublished works) and the opinion of the supervisor will be taken into account.
