El Programa de Doctorado en Economía y Gobierno tiene como objetivo la formación de investigadores capaces de hacer contribuciones independientes, innovadoras y significativas en el conocimiento científico en el campo de la economía y gobierno. Este Doctorado se desarrolla en dos áreas principales: Área de Economía, que corre a cargo de la Fundación Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros (www.cemfi.es)-UIMP, y el Área de Gobierno, que corre a cargo del Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset-UIMP. El área de Gobierno abarca las investigaciones relacionadas con las Ciencias Sociales: Ciencia Política y de la Administración, Sociología, Demografía, Derecho, Relaciones Internacionales y Cooperación, dentro de las dos amplias líneas del programa: Democracia, gobierno y administración pública; y Cambio social y político en un mundo global. La duración de los estudios de doctorado será de tres años, a tiempo completo, a contar desde la admisión del doctorando al programa hasta la presentación de la tesis doctoral, con posibilidad de solicitar un máximo de dos prórrogas de un año cada una que deberán ser autorizadas por la Comisión Académica responsable del programa. Asimismo, previa autorización de dicha Comisión Académica, podrán realizarse estudios de doctorado a tiempo parcial. En este caso tales estudios podrán tener una duración de cinco años desde la admisión al programa hasta la presentación de la tesis doctoral, con posibilidad de solicitar un máximo de dos prórrogas de dos y un año, respectivamente.
