Entrance examination: is led by a committee nominated by the scientific board of the relevant study program and assigned by the dean of the faculty. The entrance examination consists of a scientific discussion, oral interview verifying the knowledge of English and a second foreign language of global use and the transcript of records from previous university studies.

It is supposed that the graduate masters the theoretical foundations of the study area, the basic methods of scientific work in the field of study and the basic forms of permanent collection of worldwide knowledge in the field of study for lifelong learning. Graduates are supposed to be able to design descriptive and normative economic models of economic processes at the macro and microeconomic level and collect relevant documents needed for their formalization. Furthermore, the ability of generalization of scientific knowledge into the form of economic laws is assumed together with their application in the interpretation of specific economic tasks to promote sustainable development. Graduates should be able to independently work on solutions for serious economic problems, including environmental protection at sectoral and company level within the agrarian sector as an integral part of the national economy. Graduates should manage alternative approaches for solving economic problems on both the business and corporate level and be capable of supporting interdisciplinary synthesis supporting the optimization of economic actions and processes towards sustainable development.... Ph.D. Economics (English)

The study branch Economics focuses on training scientists and researchers who want to gain or deepen their existing, knowledge and skills in the areas of macroeconomics and microeconomics. In the field of macroeconomics, the focus is on the issues of analysis, and the influence of the institutional environment on macroeconomic management decision making in companies. In microeconomics, both the theory of prices and competition are the subjects of study, and secondly, the analysis of the impact of microeconomic (structural) policies on the corporate sphere.The students’ field of study, in addition to the compulsory and optional subjects, involves scientific and research work, based on the independent study of Czech and foreign literature, which gives the most up to date information in the field. Therefore, the student is required to engage in his/her own publication activity during the course of study. The Cracow University of Economics offers innovative part-time Ph.D. Studies in Economics, Finance, and Management (EFM). The Ph.D. Program in Economics is a five-year, full-time, residential program taught in English. SSE does not offer distance learning or allow for part-time studies.

In order to receive a Ph.D. degree in Economics from SSE, you must earn 240 ECTS. These credits consist of a coursework component (105 ECTS) and a dissertation component (135 ECTS).

The core courses (60 ECTS) of the Stockholm Doctoral Course Program in Economics, Econometrics, and Finance (SDPE) are compulsory and should be completed in your first year of study. In the second year, you can choose from a large selection of elective courses (45 ECTS). In the beginning of your second year of study, you find a subject field for your dissertation and decide on an SSE faculty member for your supervisor; you will be conducting dissertation research in your final two to three years.
