The quality of the PhD programme rests upon a highly educated faculty holding doctoral degrees awarded by outstanding European and American universities and whose research excellence is documented by a large number of publications in excellent international scientific journals. At the University of Minho, faculty members undertake their research activities in the Economic Policies Research Unit (NIPE), which ranked Very Good, the second highest in the country for Economics, in the last evaluation of R&D units by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, and in the Applied Microeconomic Research Unit (NIMA).
