Mission Statement

The mission of the doctoral program in Counseling Psychology is to prepare counseling psychologists who are trained in evidence-based psychological services and research methods, are sensitive to individual, social, and cultural differences, are advocates for mental health and personal growth throughout the lifespan, and are competent to practice in healthcare systems and in academia.

Scientist-Practitioner Model of Training

The doctoral program in Counseling Psychology at the University of Central Arkansas provides graduate education in the scientific practice of psychology and in counseling psychology as a professional specialization. The program of study is grounded in the scientist‑practitioner model for training psychologists that stresses training in both research methods and professional practice. This model affirms the idea that practice and research should reciprocally influence and strengthen one another and are thus complementary components of graduate psychology education. The role of scientist-practitioner is to be (1) a consumer and practitioner of evidence-based clinical practices, (2) an evaluator of professional actions and, (3) a researcher who produces new data and who reports these findings to the professional community. The scientist-practitioner model was developed at the Boulder Conference on clinical psychology in 1949 and subsequently accepted in 1954 by the Society of Counseling Psychology (Division 17) of the American Psychological Association (APA).... Doctor of Ministry

The world is changing and expectations are rising. Yesterday's solutions don't seem to be working and it is tough to know what to do next. Don't panic. Talbot can help. We want to help you refresh, renew and retool for where God is calling you to ministry. Our goal is not to press you into our mold, but to help you be all that God has called and gifted you to be. Talbot's Doctor of Ministry degree is not intended as a research or academic degree but is designed to help participants develop their skills and understanding to the fullest extent in the parish, parachurch, or missionary service. The D.Min. degree is similar to a J.D. or M.D. in that it provides students with a practical education for working with people, rather than a purely research-oriented approach. The D.Min. degree is designed for those working in a full-time ministry capacity. The residency portion of the program is designed to be completed in three years. You will be in the classroom for two consecutive weeks every year for three years. People come from all over the world to participate in this program. Our proximity to Los Angeles makes us accessible from anywhere. The cost of the program is reasonable and designed to fit into your budget. We want to help you make your maximum impact in ministry. PhD in Anthropology

Anthropology seeks to understand the nature and origins of human biological variability, cultural diversity, and social formations through systematic exploration, scientific examination and the application of theory to human populations and their artifacts, including their social configurations, past and present.

Although anthropology has historically been most successful in the analysis of small sociocultural systems, its current challenge is to situate the direct objects of study in their global contexts in both space and time. The discipline draws freely on various fields of study in the humanities and in the social and natural sciences, and its diversity today is such that no single central mission earns a wide consensus.... EUCLID (Euclid University)

HIGHLIGHTS:

The DIRD (and DIFS) are unique programs in the sense that they are actually offered by an intergovernmental organization with a university charter and an additional mandate in inter-religious dialogue and diplomacy. Notably, EUCLID is the only university which has received the first prize of the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week, presented by H.M. King Abdullah of Jordan (photo below).

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:

EUCLID offers several closely related but nevertheless distinct graduate programs:

DIRD: Ph.D. in Interreligious Dialogue and Diplomacy DIFS: Ph.D. in Interfaith Studies DCRel/DCCTh: PhD in Comparative Religion / Comparative Christian Theology

This page focuses on the DIRD: EUCLID’s Ph.D. in Inter-Religious Dialogue and Diplomacy, the umbrella program designed to train diplomats, government officials and civil servants in this complex and specialized field. These programs, delivered 100% online, exist to prepare government officials, social workers, clergy, theologians and faculty members to successfully and constructively engage in inter-religious dialogue and diplomacy. This program assumes a strong interest in religion, spirituality, theology, critical thinking, academic research and global affairs. Furthermore, it is open to students from all religious backgrounds including non-believers, although its focus may be of special interest to Muslims and Christians since it was—to an extent—developed in response to the “Common Word” initiative. However, it does assume the following:... [-]

Ecology, Spirituality, and Religion PhD

The ecological challenges of the 21st century represent a crisis of values and consciousness. The pace of global change calls for an understanding of the process by which humanity came to this crossroads in planetary history. Graduate study in Ecology, Spirituality, and Religion allows students to cultivate the knowledge and wisdom to respond to the ecological crisis from integral and transdisciplinary perspectives.

Our program is centered in nurturing a community engaged in revitalizing the human relationship to the earth and exploring intersections of eco-spirituality, eco-justice, indigenous traditions, and eco-feminism. The world's religious and spiritual traditions offer deep insight into the human condition, along with profound teachings about how humans should relate to one another and to the environment. Students gain skills and insight to transform practices, worldviews, and consciousness in the service of a more just, sustainable, and flourishing planetary future. Core faculty are founders in the field of religion and ecology, shaping global dialogue linking spirituality and cosmology with ecology and sustainability.... [-]
