Part-time students can earn a Doctoral degree in 2 to 4 academic years, depending on the number of courses attempted per quarter, the course selection and the course planning; earning half the typical number of courses equals twice the duration of the part-time program. The more flexible the working hours, the more courses will be available to finish faster. All Postgraduate students are considered part-time. The Ph.D. programme is part-time, and therefore well-suited for professionals that want to get a doctorate in combination with their career.
The programme consists of a combination of intensive seminars and research assignments and a thesis/research project. Internationally acclaimed professors will deliver a 3-4 day seminar on current topics in business and management science and the candidates will write a research paper on each of the seminars. Apart from these topical seminars, there are a number of professional skills seminars on research methodology, academic presentation, and academic teaching. After the candidates have concluded the seminar series, they will embark on writing the thesis proposal and performing their Ph.D. research, in cooperation with one of the professors of IBSH, Sapienza, or one of the professors in IBSH’s international network.
