Choices of research topic depend on the availability of supervisors, but in the past have included statistics, operations research, mathematical modelling, financial mathematics, functional analysis, fluid dynamics and mathematical physics. Assessment for the degree is based solely on the contents of an original thesis of no more than 100,000 words, to be submitted at the end of the student’s candidature.
