A PhD, also known as a Doctor of Philosophy degree, is a doctorate awarded by a university to the academic who has met all necessary qualifications and can now be considered a doctor in his or her academic field.
A PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) is granted once students have conducted broad research in their area of study. The degree can be earned in a variety of disciplines and is often accompanied by a final dissertation or thesis.
