Our world-renowned graduate program provides a select group of highly motivated students the opportunity for research and graduates education in the biomedical sciences, chemistry, and biophysics. Rockefeller University is committed to recruiting and supporting a diverse graduate community. The graduate program is flexible and individualized according to each student’s particular needs and academic interests, offering rigorous training and close mentoring by faculty. Rockefeller’s structure is designed to stimulate interaction between researchers from different disciplines. With no departments and unique, collaborative culture, our laboratories are at the centre of the PhD training program. In consultation with the dean of graduate studies, students choose a flexible combination of courses, offering unparalleled freedom to structure their own academic experience and study course. While courses are grouped into major areas of study, students can meet degree requirements by participating in various courses. If Rockefeller does not offer a course to meet a specific educational need, in many cases, students can take courses offered outside the university. Rockefeller education and training opens the door to a wide variety of careers for biomedical scientists. In addition to academic research, Rockefeller students and postdocs also have interests in research and non-research careers in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, science teaching and education, technology transfer and intellectual property, management consulting, science writing and publishing, and science policy and diplomacy.
