The Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) offers a new route to a Doctoral qualification designed specifically for experienced leaders in the private, public and third sectors. Unlike a traditional Ph.D., the DBA enables candidates to make a contribution to knowledge through the "novel application of theory" rather than the "development of new theory". The result is an enhanced capacity in thought leadership for organizational change, and greater preparedness for senior management and/or consultancy roles.

Supported Distance Learning Method: The DBA Distance Learning Programme can be undertaken anywhere in the Middle East, as we use facilitative technologies to enable your engagement with the course team, fellow students and course materials. It is supported by face-to-face sessions conducted in the UAE, by the University of Northampton tutors.
Applicants will need to meet all of the following criteria:
- hold a Masters degree in a business-related subject, completed within the last ten years
- have a minimum of five years' work experience, at least some of which should be at a senior level
- be employed in a leadership/management role capable of supporting the achievement of the programme learning outcomes
You can expect to experience a variety of assessment methods designed to support your learning and the development of skills in communicating and defending your ideas at the doctoral level. Assessment types used during the facilitated modules include; essay, seminar presentation and debate, portfolio, research report, reflective report, research proposal, viva voce.
The research thesis is assessed by a 40,000-word thesis and a viva voce examination.
