Introduction
The Doctoral Program in Sciences in Fisheries and Aquaculture Bioeconomy was born from the academic interest of three institutions: Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste, SC (CIBNOR), Interdisciplinary Center of Marine Sciences - IPN ( CICIMAR ) and the Marist University of Mérida ( UMM), with the aim of training specialists of the highest level who develop analytical and numerical skills with an ecosystem approach, to carry out bioeconomic modeling, analysis, and evaluation of fisheries and aquaculture production processes, which influence decision-making regarding the establishment of catch quotas, distribution of small effort, allocation of access rights to fishing resources, closures, optimal catch or harvest times and economic optimization, among others.
The three institutions participating in this inter-institutional postgraduate course have a solid track record in research and teaching in fisheries, aquaculture, and bioeconomy matters, they have actively collaborated with each other for the training of human resources with a bioeconomy orientation, for which the capacities will be enhanced. institutions to meet the identified demand and contribute to the training of researchers who address the problems of the national and Latin American fishing and aquaculture sector.
For its operation, agreements and guidelines have been formalized and an Interinstitutional Academic Commission has been defined as the highest authority of the Program, which has within its functions to define policies, objectives, and strategies, as well as to monitor the actions of continuous improvement of the Program. interinstitutional postgraduate degree.
