Introduction
The doctoral degree program in Information Technology is intended for outstanding graduates with a master's degree completed at any university. The education acquired in this degree program also includes preparation and certification for scientific work. Graduates of the doctoral degree program are ready to start their own scientific, research, and managerial work. The graduates can utilize their creativity at distinguished research centers as heads of research and development teams as well as in scientific and pedagogical careers at universities. Graduates of this program can also occupy high positions in large institutions and companies, where creative and independent work is required as well as efficiency in analyzing complex problems and suggesting new and original solutions. The graduates receive the title of Doctor (Ph.D.) following their names. The expected number of students accepted is 40 to 60 a year.

After graduation, you can find work on the domestic labor market and abroad. You will become a creative worker at top scientific and research workplaces, a leader of research and development teams or a scientific and educational worker at universities. You will also apply your rich knowledge in the private sector.
Curriculum
Each topic has a supervisor. It is mandatory for you to contact your anticipated supervisor prior to submission of your application and to become acquainted with study orientation and the essence of the doctoral thesis (i.e. dissertation).
1st and 2nd Year
During 1 and 2 year, you will focus on completing two courses of your choice, one theoretical and one optional specialized, focused on the area of your dissertation. You will refine the focus of your topic and report on your scientific results. You will participate in internships and conferences and network with colleagues in academia and industry and publish your results.
3rd Year
At the latest in your 3rd year, you will complete your coursework by passing the state doctoral examination. At the same time, you will present the results and focus of your further research in the next part of this examination. You will continue to make contacts in academia and industry, particularly through an internship abroad or participation in an international research project. You will publish the results of your creative work and finalize the text of your dissertation. For the public defense of your dissertation, it is a requirement that the main results have already been published or accepted for publication in journals or scientific conferences considered relevant to computer science.
4th Year
You will focus intensively on the progress of your research, publication, and eventually the application of the results. The most efficient of you will already submit your defense work and successfully complete your studies.
Admissions
The application process begins when you submit an online application. In case the applicant has studied abroad (except for the Slovak Republic), the document of legally required completed education must be accompanied by a certificate of foreign education recognition. The applicant is also required to substantiate that he/she has achieved the minimum required level of competence in English (TOEFL Basic English 213, written English 550, or other comparable levels).

The admission process includes an admission exam. The exam committee uses the assessment criteria to assess in points the following qualities and knowledge of the applicant:
- applicant’s knowledge orientation with respect to the anticipated topic of his/her dissertation thesis (0-4 points),
- theoretical knowledge (0-4 points),
- special knowledge related to the study area defined by the chosen topic (0-4 points),
- competence in the English language (0-4 points),
- prior technical and scientific activities (0-4 points).
