Introduction
The program is focused on the comprehensive training of human resources at the postgraduate level, who, by becoming involved in knowledge generation, validation and/or transfer activities, as well as professional training, respond with innovative and knowledge-based proposals to the demands for a solution to the problem of animal production systems, the sustainable use and exploitation of natural resources in Chihuahua, in Mexico and even beyond its borders. To this end, the program develops in the student different generic and specialty skills in four areas of specialization: Animal Nutrition, Animal Reproduction and Genetics, Natural Resource Management, and Technology of Products of Animal Origin.

MISSION
Train specialized human resources, of a high scientific level and with comprehensive skills so that they contribute to national development, the development of proprietary technology and the sustainability of production, through the generation, application, dissemination and transfer of knowledge for problem solving and innovation. in animal production systems and the care and responsible use of natural resources, in favor of a better quality of life in the regional and national context.
VISION 2018
The Doctor in Philosophia program in Animal Production and Natural Resources is a national and international reference, with high social relevance, recognized for academic productivity, impact of its results and for the quality in the training of human resources committed to the generation and application responsible and innovative knowledge to solve problems in the agri-food sector, natural resources and the environment; as well as the development of state and national higher education. It has high-level academic bodies, capable of analyzing and designing comprehensive solutions from various technological, economic, social and environmental dimensions through projects articulated in collaborative networks that contribute to the strengthening of the Faculty and the University.

GRADUATE PROFILE
The Doctor in Philosophia is a specialist of the highest academic level, with an ethical sense and social commitment, who possesses and integrates knowledge, skills and attitudes to perform efficiently and effectively in activities of scientific research, application, dissemination and transfer of knowledge for the comprehensive solution of the most complex problems of the national livestock industry and natural resources.
In general, upon graduating from the program, they have domains of competencies for:
- The identification of relevant problems
- The synthesis and effective communication of knowledge
- Independent research development
- The design, application and evaluation of strategies based on knowledge for the solution of problems in their area of expertise
- Generation and analysis of relevant information
- Collaboration for work in disciplinary and multidisciplinary teams
- The implementation of group dynamics for the identification of relevant problems and the proposal of strategic solution actions
- Effective communication of significant content in formal teaching-learning environments, both face-to-face and virtual
- Management of research and technological development
According to their area of expertise, they have domains for:
- The design and improvement of reproductive management or intervention schemes, protocols and technologies that have a positive and sustainable impact on the efficiency of animal production systems, always taking care of animal welfare.
- The development and complementation of models that support the reproductive processes of animals under different environmental conditions
- The design and holistic evaluation of innovative schemes for the improvement and conservation of animal genetic resources under conditions of sustainability and the incorporation of appropriate technologies
- The design and evaluation of plans for the sustainable use, monitoring and conservation of natural resources
- The development of sustainable management plans for pastures for animal production and their integral use
- The generation and validation of models aimed at achieving the sustainability of production systems with scientific bases
- The development of biotechnological processes and products applicable to livestock feeding and nutritional management
- The development and complementation of models that support digestive physiology and metabolism in animals under different environmental conditions
- The study of the interactions of nutrition with reproduction, health and the quality of the products and its relationship with the biological response of the animal and the efficiency in production
- The assessment and adaptation of technological processes to prevent and solve quality and safety problems in the meat and dairy industry and to innovate products that contribute to consumer health
Ideal Students
ADMISSION PROFILE
Applicants to enter the Doctor in Philosophia program must have a solid academic preparation related to animal science and the management of natural resources and the ability to carry out scientific research, therefore they must have:
- Advanced knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, ecology, computer science, research methods and minimal knowledge of animal production systems and/or natural resources, as well as intermediate level English language proficiency.
- Ability to express yourself orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, as well as handling animals, equipment, tools and laboratory reagents.
- Ability to work in outdoor activities.
- Scientific interest in livestock problems and the country's natural resources.
- Service vocation, willingness to acquire knowledge, skills, abilities and desire for self-improvement.
- Values such as ethics, discipline, responsibility, honesty, dignity, tolerance and respect for oneself, people, institutions and nature.
