Introduction
The next few decades will decide what fraction of the planet's diversity will survive. The training of experts in Biodiversity and Conservation is understood as a scientific commitment that wants to cover a need for a territory like Galicia of experts and evaluators of its Natural Environment.
As stated in the historical data of the University of Santiago de Compostela, the "Biodiversity and conservation of the natural environment" program maintained a considerable number of students for years, most of whom completed their studies with the presentation of supervised research works , of doctoral theses, and currently occupying positions in industry, teaching and research. Human activities are causing the devastation of biological communities all over the planet. Threats to biological diversity are unprecedented, and never in the history of life have so many species been threatened with extinction in such a short period of time. Current efforts are focused on understanding diversity, saving species, establishing new conservation areas, and protecting existing natural parks.
Lines of investigation
- Method and development of techniques for the study of biodiversity
