Introduction
The Doctorate in Contemporary Communication and Information offers university training with a high level of specialization to meet the academic and scientific needs derived from the different lines of research related to Journalism and Audiovisual Communication.
The main purpose of this Doctorate is to guarantee learning that meets the demands of students who have completed the degree in Journalism or Audiovisual Communication, and also in other degrees, mainly Social Sciences, and who wish to continue their research training. It is a program that offers multiple specialization options through already consolidated lines of work, exploring the languages and the informative and communicative possibilities of the different formats and supports. It is committed to highly qualified training and knowledge linked to permanent scientific exchange through the agreements that exist with leading European and American universities, which already collaborate with the research groups participating in the Doctorate program.

Ideal Students
They will be able to access, without needing to take additional training:
- Students from official master's degrees with research output that offer exclusive content in Journalism, Audiovisual Communication and Advertising and Public Relations.
- Students with the DEA degree obtained through the specific programs of Audiovisual Communication, Journalism or Advertising and Public Relations.
- Students of related degrees: All master's degrees with research output in the broad area of Social Sciences will be considered a related degree, except for those specific to Journalism, Audiovisual Communication or Advertising and Public Relations.
Foreign students:
Graduates will be able to access it according to foreign educational systems, without the need for approval, after verification by the University that it accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish university master's degree and that it entitles the country issuing the degree to the access to doctoral studies. This admission will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree held by the interested party or its recognition for purposes other than access to doctoral education.

In the case of other types of profiles different from the previous ones, the Academic Committee will establish the requirement to pass specific communication training complements that may be chosen from the contents of the Master in Journalism and Communication: New Trends in Production, Management and Dissemination of Knowledge offered by the USC.
The Academic Committee will evaluate each case individually to determine the obligation to take a complementary training itinerary through passing specific communication subjects (a maximum of up to 15 ECTS) that may be chosen from the offer contemplated in the Master in Journalism and Communication: New Trends in Production, Management and Dissemination of Knowledge offered at USC. This determination will be established from the memory of the original training (Master or DEA), as well as the subjects of these programs taken by each student, paying special attention to the skills acquired by the applicants in specific topics in the field of communication.
