How to Apply

The essence of the admission procedure is the overall assessment of the candidate´s preconditions to study in the selected doctoral study program. Evaluation of the motivation letter is an inevitable part of the admission procedure.

Structure and evaluation of the motivation letter

In the motivation letter, the applicant describes:

Previous education, mainly length of study, name, and type of educational institution, specialization, and study results. The maximum score is 5 points.

The reason for choosing VSB-TUO and the particular study program. The maximum score is 5 points.

Current results in research and science, including the list of publications. The maximum score is 10 points.

Up-to-date lecturing experience of the applicant. The maximum score is 5 points.

The applicant´s area of interest is to be further developed in the doctoral study. The maximum score is 5 points.

The motivation letter can be awarded a maximum of 30 points. The minimum number of points to be awarded for the quality of the motivation letter is 15 to be admitted to study.

The admission procedure also includes an assessment of the proposed supervisor's opinion on the applicant and the topic of the work. The proposed supervisors shall submit their written opinions no later than 10 working days after the deadline for submitting the applications in the current admission round to the administrative office for doctoral studies. If more than one candidate applies for one of the topics, the supervisor proposes a solution to this situation and indicates whether he has had the opportunity to discuss the proposed solutions with the candidates.
