We have a thriving research community of more than 800 students across five faculties who are supported by over 500 highly trained supervisors. Our Graduate School provides excellent support and guidance for all research students.

A dedicated Graduate School

Our dedicated Graduate School is the first port of call for information for all postgraduate research students and supervisors. We support, administer and coordinate training for the MPhil, PhD and Professional Doctorate programmes.

As a research degree student at the University of Portsmouth, you will have access to the Graduate School Development Programme, which offers broad-based generic skills training with over 150 workshops on a wide range of topics including research design, doctoral process and career development. These popular and highly rated workshops are delivered by our expert tutors from across the University and support our students at all stages of their research degree.

The group’s research has been published in a range of journals (including the Journal of World Investment & Trade, Journal of Law & Society, European Law Journal, Conveyancer & Property Lawyer and International Journal of the Legal Profession) and as a contribution to research texts.

Members of the School regularly attend research conferences and in recent years, research projects have been funded by such bodies as the Nuffield Foundation, British Academy, Socio-Legal Studies Association and the Legal Education Research Network. Furthermore, members of the School contribute to interdisciplinary research groupings such as the Business Education Research Group and those within the Centre for European and International Studies Research CEISR.
